Novel wear resistant and low toxicity dental obturation materials
نویسندگان
چکیده
Preparation of new polymer (polyurethane)+ceramic nanohybrids for filling dental cavities is reported. Short curing times (below 10 min) are achieved. Some tribological properties are determined and compared with those of commercial dental materials. The new materials provide scratch resistance as well as good adhesion to dentin and enamel, low toxicity and high chemical resistance; additionally, they can be easily pigmented to match the teeth color. Microscratch testing which provides the instantaneous penetration depth, the residual depth after scratch healing and the percentage recovery turns out to be a useful tool for differentiation of quality between dental obturation materials. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. متن کاملPorous hydroxyapatite-based obturation materials for dentistry
New porous biomaterials based on hydroxyapatite (HAp) were designed as obturation materials for dental cavities. Synthetic HAp powder with a particle diameter of 150 m was agglutinated using three different polyurethane monocomponents (rigid, semi-rigid, and flexible), enabling the matching of their properties to those of real teeth. Alumina particles were also added in some cases. Our new hybr...
متن کاملMishaps and serious complications in endodontic obturation
There are numerous examples reported in the literature that cite and document many disabling complications to the alveolar bone, neurovascular anatomy and maxillary sinus following overextension of root canal filling materials. Neural complications as a consequences of endodontic obturation as well as other server outcomes to overfill are a serious problem. These injuries require a thoughful st...
متن کاملWear Resistance of Bulk-fill Composite Resin Restorative Materials Polymerized under different Curing Intensities.
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to assess the wear resistance of four bulk-fill composite resin restorative materials cured using high- and low-intensity lights. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-four samples were prepared from each composite resin material (Tetric N-Ceram, SonicFill, Smart Dentin Replacement, Filtek Bulk-Fill) resulting in a total of 96 samples; they were placed into a mol...

350 The excessive differential wear of teeth and restorative materials has significant deleterious effects on the biologic, functional, and esthetic condition of the masticatory system. However, controlled investigations of numerous factors that might influence tooth and restoration wear have been mainly laboratory studies, the findings of which might not correlate with either the physical prop...
